Remember reading Tuesdays With Morrie in high school or college? Mitch Albom books are real tear-jerkers but they have some great life lessons in them as well. As a therapist, I respect his work and his message. This guy knows a thing or two about life 🙂 . I recently read his newest book The Time Keeper and was reminded of some of the great wisdom I’ve gleaned from his books. Here are some of my favorite Mitch Albom quotes about life, love and the human condition:
“Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.” –Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper
“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love and how to let it come in.” -Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
“Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do, accept the past as the past without denying it or discarding it. Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others. Don’t assume that it’s too late to get involved.”-Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
“Don’t let go too soon, but don’t hang on too long.”-Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
“Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.”-Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie
“Learn this from me. Holding anger is poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.” -Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven
“Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that’s all. You can’t see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it. Life has to end, love doesn’t.”-Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven
