Friendly Fashion: Rainbow Shredded Demin

Hi guys and gals! Hope you’re all enjoying this Sunday morning. If you read my first blog post then you know that in addition to being passionate about things like plant-based eating, health & wellness, animal welfare and the environment, I also enjoy some more simple pleasures like cute clothes and going out to eat. One of my personal journeys is to become a more conscious consumer, especially in regard to the use of animals in clothing, accessories and products. I’m certainly not perfect but I do try to make an honest effort to buy non-leather goods.

On this blog I want to share outfits that are cute, fashionable and cruelty-free. We’ve got a long way to go to live in a world where the standard is cruelty-free, but the great thing is that the more research I do, the more beautiful cruelty-free fashion and accessories I find. So here is a cute outfit where no animals were harmed in the making of it. Links to each of the items are at the bottom of this post. Happy shopping! 🙂

This is a Stella McCartney bag! Stella is at the forefront of high-end, cruelty-free fashion. If you read my post about the The Perfect Purse you know I really want a Stella bag…unfortunately this one is not mine but I was lucky enough to get to borrow it. 🙂 🙂 🙂

IMG_6397I love love love these Wildfox jeans with the hand-painted rainbow shredding.

IMG_6388IMG_6398When shopping for shoes online look for terms like synthetic, polyurethane, or man made in the product details to signify a cruelty-free shoe.
IMG_6394Did you know when you’re looking for shoes in person you can look inside the shoe and most of the time it will say what material the shoe is made out of? If you see terms like leather, suede, or leather outer it means animal skin was used to make the shoe. However, if it says man made or all man made materials that means the shoe has no animal products in it. I get so excited when I find shoes I like and I peek inside and see the words “all man made materials”!

Love the idea of cruelty-free clothing! Also read an article about cotton being a toxic crop when it’s genetically modified and how pesticides contribute to bee colony collapse. Some clothing lines are purchasing only organicly grown cotton w/o gmo and toxic pesticides used. Check out Eileen Fisher’s Organic by Design if you’re interested : )

Thank you for this post! I think there’s not enough cruelty-free fashion on the internet. It is always a confusion with shoes, but especially, with winter coats.

Also, I wish more high-end designers embraced cruelty-free materials. The fact that fur is making a comeback, with the likes of Kanye West and Macklemore wearing fur coats is appalling. Slowly, though, animal-loving people will take over the world!! 🙂

Hi Ana! You are so welcome. I’m glad you liked it. I totally agree with you…there is not enough. We need more! Shoes and coats are the hardest. Especially boots…but if there are fashionable, high-quality, cruelty-free boots out there I am determined to find them!! If only more brands would take after Stella…some day!
