Today is a gloomy day in NYC but I’m loving how cozy it feels. Nothing like drinking an almond milk hot cocoa while curled up on the couch on a cool, drizzling Saturday. 🙂 Today I’ve got a great list of some of my favorite finds from the past few weeks. Hope you enjoy!
• The Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Truck that serves vegan (and regular) ice cream. Somehow these trucks keep appearing everywhere I am and I just can’t pass up an opportunity to have their delicious vegan ice cream. My absolute favorite flavor is their vegan mint chocolate chip. This stuff is not to be missed if you’re in the NYC area. Check out their website here. How cute is the truck?
• I change my shampoo and conditioner every so often so I can try new ones, but this ultra-moisturizing shampoo and conditioner with avocado and olive oil have been a steady favorite for the past few months. My hair feels moisturized and clean after every use. I don’t see myself swapping it out any time soon! You can purchase it here.
• I can’t believe I haven’t posted about this incredible anti-breakage hair masque yet! If you follow me on instagram then you saw a while back that I was freaking out about how great this stuff is. The pic above is my hair after the first time I used the masque. I didn’t add any product to it after the shower, just blow dried and curled it myself. Love how silky smooth and healthy my hair feels after I use it. You can purchase your own jar here.
• Meatless Monday mentioned on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart! This Jon Stewart video, which you can see here, is really worth watching. It had me laughing but also touches on a very important issue regarding the leading cause of death in this country, heart disease. Plant-based diets are proven to prevent and reverse heart disease, yet so little is being done by the government to help spread this message. If you want to learn more about how to prevent and reverse heart disease, which I really hope you do, check out any of these books: Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically-Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications For Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health by Dr. T. Colin Campbell & Dr. Thomas Campbell II, or My Beef With Meat: The Healthiest Argument for Eating a Plant-Based Diet by Rip Esselstyn.
• I love this adorable card given to me by my friend Lauren. So fitting! This card is made by Lady Pilot Letterpress.
• And finally, this adorable puppy, and the many other cats and dog, up for adoption through Animal Haven in NYC. Thinking about adopting an animal? Petfinder.com is an amazing site where you can type in your zip code and find animals available for adoption in your area. Looking for a particular breed, age, etc.? No problem. You can find every breed, shape and size on Petfinder. As of right now there are 349,683 pets ready to find their forever homes on Petfinder. If you’re looking to add a new furry member to your family, this is a great resource. And Petfinder is how I originally found my bunny boys, Hank and Henry, up for adoption through Petraits Pet Photography & Rescue.
Omg that Van Leeuwen ice cream looks so delicious!! I need to track them down next time I’m in LA 🙂
