Babycakes aka Erin McKenna’s Bakery

This past weekend my sister and her boyfriend sent me cupcakes from one of the most well-known vegan + gluten-free bakeries in NYC and I was reminded that I need to tell you guys about this great place! I’ve mentioned it before in a post from one of my visits to NYC, before I lived here. But now that I’m living here and I’ve gotten to pick up some sweet treats from them a few times, Erin McKenna’s Bakery (formerly known as Babycakes) deserves its own post!

The great thing about this bakery is that people with all sorts of different dietary restrictions can eat there. The bakery is refined sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, dairy-free, egg-free, vegan and kosher. But despite being free of all those things they are still full of flavor and compete with the best baked goods out there. I mean, how good does that raspberry donut look above from my visit there this past summer? People with no dietary restrictions frequent this place too because their treats are just that delicious. And after indulging in Erin McKenna’s baked goods you can feel a lot less guilty than you would if you were eating most other baked goods. 😉

Erin McKenna’s serves cupcakes, donuts, cakes, loaves, rolls, brownies and more. The bakery itself is a super cute teeny tiny place in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. They also have a location in Los Angeles and one in Orlando. The NYC location is often packed but you never have to wait too long to order.

And what you’re looking at above was my cupcake breakfast the other day. Totally not a healthy choice for breakfast but so delicious! (And hey, it was my birthday so…)
