This past week my sister Paige was in town so we hit up some of her favorite plant-based restaurants here in NYC. She is such a fan of all the dishes I’m sharing here today and so was I. Some of them you’ve seen on here before, but now that you know she likes them (and she can be a tough critic) you know you’ve got to try them out!
The avocado toast from By Chloe is loaded with tons of smashed avocado, seasonal vegetables and almond parmesan. By Chloe is 100% vegan and a very popular spot amongst people of all diets.
The pulled BBQ jackfruit sandwich from Chickpea & Olive is incredible! The taste reminded me so much of actual pulled pork except it’s made with fruit! Who would have ever known jackfruit is the perfect alternative to pulled pork? This sandwich comes with carolina slaw, bread and butter pickles, fried shallots and horseradish aioli all on top of that delicious pulled jackfruit. Chickpea & Olive serves 100% plant-based comfort food.
My sister and I both dream about this vegan broccolini pizza from Pala in the Lower East Side. It is our favorite pizza ever and the ingredients are very unique. This pizza is made with sautéed broccoli, braised fennel, shaved potatoes, vegan cheese and cracked black pepper. All of their vegan pizzas are delicious and they have a gluten-free menu as well.
The gnocchi from Pala is another one of our favorite dishes!! Fresh red sauce, delicious potato gnocchi and vegan cheese.
At By Chloe we also enjoyed the vegan mac and cheese, which my sister (once a serious cheese lover) went crazy over, and the air baked fries that come with a house made beet ketchup and chipotle aioli. Yum, yum, yum!
