Caring for a Special Needs Dog

LIFESTYLE

I am the proud mama to my special needs rescue dog, Pani.

Before Pani was rescued her back was been broken, which left her paralyzed.

She now lives an incredibly happy and fulfilling life with me in New York City!

If you have a paralyzed dog, or are thinking of adopting one, here are some helpful tips I've learned  along the  way.

REHABILITATION

1

If there is a canine rehab facility near you, take your dog for a consultation. Rehab helps to keep special needs dogs as healthy and physically active as possible.

Pani goes to rehab at Water4Dogs in New York City.

CANINE WHEELCHAIR

2

Canine wheelchairs offer special needs dogs mobility they otherwise wouldn't have. Pani's wheels are custom made by Eddie's Wheels.

PROTECTIVE BOOTIES

3

If your dog's legs drag in their wheelchair, you'll want booties to protect their paws. Our favorite brand is linked below.

BABY DIAPERS

4

If your dog is incontinent, baby diapers are more absorbent than dog diapers. Cut a slit in the diaper for their tail. Our favorite brand is linked below.

GOOD NUTRITION

5

Nutrition is important for all dogs! This is our favorite book on canine nutrition and holistic pet care.
